School Curriculum

Practical Life
Practical Life exercises provide  the child with the opportunity to gain experience of working with real problems in a safe and rewarding way. These exercises help the child to gain confidence and independence and encourage the development of concentration and co-ordination of movement. Children also learn courtesy, good manners and consideration for others, which are all valuable life skills.

Sensorial Activities
Sensorial materials allow the child to develop their senses of touch, sight, smell, taste and hearing allowing the child to fully explore and understand the environment in a meaningful way. Through these activities the child’s vocabulary is extended and the child is preparing for reading, writing and mathematics.

Language, Communication and Literacy
We provide a variety of ways to enrich vocabulary and develop the child’s social skills.

Children learn the phonetic sounds of letters in a concrete manner and progress to build words, read and write.

Mathematical Development
Children are introduced to the concept of math’s in a structured and logical method. The materials allow the child to gain a concept of quantity prior to the introduction of number symbols. In this way the child really grasps not only how to recognise numbers but also understand their true value. This provides the child with an excellent foundation for the development of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Creative Development
Our school encourages the child to develop their creative skills by providing a wide variety of art and craft activities. Also the children have the opportunity to  participate in music and movement during which the children are encouraged to gain a musical appreciation as they sing, dance and play instruments.

Knowledgeand Understanding of the World
We encourage children to have an awareness of themselves as individuals. We aim to nurture love, respect and friendship to all. Children enjoy opportunities to attain knowledge of a wide variety of subjects through the study of History, Geography, Science and French.

History
Children are introduced to the concept of time through time lines, days of the week, months of the years and the seasons.

Geography
Children are exposed to Geography in a fun and varied way which allows them to gain an understanding of our planet, peoples and customs.

Science
Children are introduced to Science through simple experiments, which help them appreciate how things work in a fun and exciting way.

Through a nature table children gain a greater appreciation of their environment and they will also study life cycles of animals and plants.

French
Young children love to experience new languages and French is introduced in a fun way through songs, games and simple vocabulary.
